BTS‘ new compilation album Proof has bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, earning the Korean boy band their sixth chart-topper.
Proof debuted with 314,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 16, according to Luminate. The major part of the unit figure was driven by CD album sales.
The compilation album was released on June 10, just four days before the group announced an indefinite “hiatus” to focus on their solo careers.
The seven-member band, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, made the surprise announcement during BTS’ Festa dinner.
The South Korean band was formed in 2010 and made its U.S. Billboard chart debut in 2013. BTS has earned 15 entries on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
