An 18-year old girl from California who was on vacation in Mexico was dragged into the ocean by a crocodile.

The 12-foot crocodile attacked when she was swimming around midnight at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa.

The croc sunk its teeth into her shin, before letting go and then grabbing her other ankle.

Luckily, a group of tourists came to her aid after hearing screams, eventually pulling her free from the crocodile.

The 18-year-old is scheduled to undergo surgery this week to repair extensive muscle and tissue damage.

After the attack, she says she was not properly warned by Marriott staff of crocodiles in the area.
