Hurricane Laura has been downgraded to a Category 1 storm.
Now that the storm is moving north and there is light out, some residence have this false sense of security about getting out on the roads to see or assess properties. Officials are reminding residence that waters are still rising in some areas including on the Vermillion river, wires are still down and roads still have debris. Unless you are traveling for safety or to help in an emergency it is still unwise to be traveling. Keep in mind in flooded areas, road movement and the wake you cause could be the difference in someone else flooding or not!
