National Wildlife Federation’s Oil Spill Relief Effort
As organizations from around the world band together to support the wildlife and people of the gulf during the on-going oil spill crisis, Buffalo Wild Wings is partnering with the National Wildlife Federation in these relief efforts.

From 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Monday, July 26th, 2010, The Lafayette Buffalo Wild Wings location will be donating 10 percent of their net sales to the National Wildlife Federation.

The National Wildlife Federation are on the ground in the gulf in addition to organizing thousands of local volunteers throughout the region in clean-up and wildlife care efforts.

Overcome all your stress and anxieties through Christ

Many people in the community are suffering with addictions, anxiety disorders, stress and depression that can’t find help. True Life Ministries are offering free classes to overcome these things. Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op comes to Lafayette
Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op, 510 Johnston St downtown Lafayette, open 11a-7p Mon-Fri, is part of a statewide network of Music Co-Ops operated by the nonprofit Tipitina’s Foundataion. Con- Artists are working South Louisiana and pretending to send messages from Teche Federal Bank to verify their bank information and then they are stealing funds from their accounts.  They are not just calling and texting Teche customers, they are targeting everyone in the area and hoping that Teche customers will respond. 

 

ADOPT A HOMELESS PET TODAY
The Lafayette Coalition of Animal Advocates wants to remind the public to adopt homeless, rescued pets. You can visit places such as Roicy Duhon Lafayette Animal Control Center (open on Saturdays from 10am-2pm), or Petsmart (Saturdays from 11am-3pm, and Sundays 1pm-4pm). www.petfinder.com gives you all information for local no-kill shelters, such as Lafayette Animal Aid (open weekends from 1pm-4pm), www.lafayetteanimalaid.org. Please spay or neuter your pets. 

 

 LSNA Legislative Brunch

The Louisiana State Nurses Association will be hosting a Legislative Brunch at A la Carte Restaurant in Lafayette, La. Twenty local area state senators and representatives have been invited to speak to about the upcoming state legislative sessionand how it may affect nursing and healthcare in the state. The cost for the event is $15 for members of LSNA and students, and $25 for non-members

Hospice of Acadiana's Annual Summer Camp


This years annual summer camp for children ages 7-11 years old, will be on July 29 & 30th. This 2 day
camp gives children the chance to meet new friends that share in their experience of having lost a loved one, learn ways of coping with grief, and how to deal with the emotions they now face. Children participate in
activities such as swimming, games, letter writing, therapeutic art projects and more. Spaces are limited so please contact Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. at 337-232-1234 to register. The cost of the camp is $15, which includes lunch, snacks, art supplies, etc.

 

Charity Poker Tournament

The Jacob Crouch Foundation is proud to announce that we are hosting a charity poker tournament on Saturday, July 17th, 2010.  The event will be held at The Crown Room located at 4607 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA  70503.  200 individuals on a first-come, first-serve basis will have the opportunity to compete and support a local non-profit in the process.  . Initial buy-in is $50.00 with the option for additional buy-ins and add-ons.  80% of the initial buy-in will be paid out in prizes!

 

All proceeds will benefit the Jacob Crouch Foundation as we continue to educate the community about the silent epidemic of suicide.

Support Group for Adults with ADHD and Parents of Children with ADHD Now Offered at The Family Tree

The ADHD Support Group at The Family Tree meets monthly to enable parents with children diagnosed with ADHD and to share information and resources in a setting of understanding. The group is facilitated by Danny Yeager, LCSW. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at The Family Tree in Lafayette from 6pm to 7pm (No children, please).
